The band play very well. All the songs are performed solidly. Page’s solos are spot on, and Bonham puts in some great fills. As well, Plant's voice holds up great. But there is a sense of the band being somewhat tired. But, again, if you go back and listen to those Scottish shows for comparison, you can see that they were pretty tough to beat and perhaps might’ve taken a little bit out of the band. In any case, this is a relaxed and good show. The audience is extremely well-behaved, but also very very quiet. At times you forget that they’re even there. And since the band do seem to take their time between songs, the silence from the audience is punctuated all that much more. There's an unusual passage just after the fast instrumental and Oriental riffs part, just before San Francisco. This would reach perfection two months later in Germany, at some of the best concerts ever given by Led Zeppelin. |
